Yesterday Is But a Dream

Yesterday is but a dream,
tomorrow but a vision.

But today well lived

makes every yesterday

a dream of happiness,

and every tomorrow
a vision of hope.
Look well, therefore, to this day.
Such is the salutation to the dawn."

– Sanskrit Proverb

Dr. Trujillo's comment

If you think about it - the memories of traumatic moments in the past are but dreams - electrochemical currents and holograms dancing in the imagination. But we react to them as if they were happening all over again.

It is the reaction, the emotion, that powers the dreams of the imagination.

And the emotion that is most responsible for keeping the memory alive is resentment.

It is resentment that brings the memory into the present, where it affects your thinking, your body, your family and your life.

Now do you see the magic and healing of forgiving?

Do you now see what it is that is preventing you from forgiving and forgetting?

It is resentment. Most of us have far more resentment than we realize.

Let go of resentment. It matters not what it is that is resented - a parent, an authority, someone else, yourself, a situation, being humiliated, being betrayed, being fooled, or now the symptoms themselves, the doctors and counselors, or even God.

Whoever or whatever you are resenting -let it go. Watch for it, and let it go.

If you need help getting out of your imagination and emotions, listen to the meditation (either the classic version or the new PTSD version) and if you elect to - give it a try.

Yesterday is but a dream,
tomorrow but a vision.

But today well lived

makes every yesterday

a dream of happiness,

and every tomorrow
a vision of hope.
Look well, therefore, to this day.
Such is the salutation to the dawn."
